Artist's Description
** Special feature in The Gallery Wall June 2016 **
With the color of flame, the translation of 'flamenco,' is where we get Flamingo. In further study of the origin of the word, we find the Latinate Greek term phoenicopterus, literally "blood red-feathered ... and, hmm, nearly the word phoenix.
The pink or reddish color of flamingos comes from organic pigments in their diet of animal and plant plankton. A healthy, well-fed flamingo is vibrantly colored; a white or pale flamingo, is usually unhealthy or malnourished. A notable exception are captive flamingos; many turn a pale pink as they are not fed carotene at levels comparable to the wild.

About Margaux Dreamaginations
As an award-winning photographer, I have been behind a camera as early as age 10 - capturing the light on the leaves, through the trees, the setting sun behind storm clouds and watching sunlight dance on the water. I create fine art, 'dreamaginations', inspired by the natural beauty, serenity, strength, order and perfection in the world. I am awed by the creatures that we exist with. My love of people watching turned into candid portraits, macro, landscape and street photography. I am a writer, photographer, traveler, lucid dreamer ...not necessarily in that order.
